Does My Business Need a Website? The Simple Answer is Yes!
By Diane Robert, Web Developer
You’ve set up a Business page on Facebook and things are going relatively well. You are slowly gaining traction with followers who respond to posts and show their appreciation by hitting the ‘like’ button. You feel secure with the knowledge that you’ve established a presence on social media. But wait… have you overlooked one of the most critical investments for your business?
It’s safe to say that in this digital age, consumers expect businesses to own a website. They’re well aware that social media profiles come and go. If a business is unwilling to invest in a website then they are at risk of losing credibility.
If people hear about your business or like what they see on social media, their first instinct is to seek out your website. A well designed website becomes the hub of your business. It establishes trust and confidence for those interested in learning more about your business and what services or products it offers.
Unlike social media business profiles, a website gives you unlimited opportunities to promote your business and educate consumers about your products and services. Owning a website is key to branding your business and keeping abreast of your competition.
Another major reason why you need a website is to establish a presence on Google. A well optimized website appears in Google searches. As you add more and more content to your website, Google will slowly index the pages giving you more exposure on the web. Plus there are free marketing opportunities available on the internet to post a link and description of your website. You can also add your website address to your social media profiles which ultimately creates a marketing funnel.
At the end of the day, in my humble opinion, a business without a website is like a ship without a rudder.
